What are the largest TV sizes you can buy?
Large TVs step up from 75 in to 77, 83, 85, 98 and 100 in. Above that, a few makers sell 115 inch class TVs.
TCL lists the 115QM891G on its US site. We have not added it to our chart yet, so we do not quote its size here.
How wide and tall are the biggest TVs?
These are the screen sizes only, with the distance to sit so the picture fills 30 to 40 degrees of your view.

A huge TV needs more planning than a normal one. Check these four things first:
- the wall or stand width against the body width,
- the weight against your stand or wall mount,
- the box size against your doors, stairs and lift,
- the seating distance against the table above.
How much bigger is a 100 inch TV than a 75 or 85 inch?
The diagonal grows by a little, but the screen area grows by much more. A 100 inch screen has:
- 1.78 times the area of a 75 inch TV, which is 65.4 in (166.0 cm)166.0 cm (65.4 in) wide,
- 1.38 times the area of an 85 inch TV, which is 74.1 in (188.2 cm)188.2 cm (74.1 in) wide,
- 1.04 times the area of a 98 inch TV, which is 85.4 in (217.0 cm)217.0 cm (85.4 in) wide.

How heavy are the biggest TVs?
Heavy enough to need two or more people. In our list, the Samsung QN100QN80HFXZA weighs 129.85 lb (58.9 kg) without its stand.
Choose a mount rated above that weight, with the TV’s VESA pattern. Our VESA mount size guide explains the patterns.
How high should I mount a 100 inch TV?
Aim the center of the screen at seated eye height, about 42.0 in (106.7 cm)106.7 cm (42.0 in). For a 100 inch TV, that puts the bottom of the screen only 17.5 in (44.4 cm)44.4 cm (17.5 in) off the floor.
The top then sits 66.5 in (168.9 cm)168.9 cm (66.5 in) high. Mounting much higher makes you tilt your head back, so a low wall mount or a wide stand works best.
Does a huge TV need 8K resolution?
Not from normal seats. On a 100 inch 4K screen, single pixels vanish beyond 6.5 ft2.0 m, and the seating range starts at 10.0 ft3.0 m.
So from the right distance, 4K already looks smooth. See how the two compare on our 8K resolution page.
Should I get a projector instead?
A projector makes an even bigger picture from a small box, but it needs a dark room to look its best. A TV stays bright in daylight and needs no screen or throw distance.
Work out the picture a projector gives with our projector screen size calculator, or read our projector screen size guide.
What sound suits a huge TV?
Thin TVs have little room for speakers, so a big picture can sound small. A soundbar under the screen is the simplest upgrade.
Measure the space below the TV first. On a stand, check that the soundbar does not block the screen or the remote sensor.
How do I get a 100 inch TV into my home?
Plan the route before you order. The screen alone is 87.2 in (221.4 cm)221.4 cm (87.2 in) wide, and the box is bigger still.
- Find the box size on the shop’s listing and compare it with each door, hallway and stair turn.
- Book two or more people to carry it, keeping it upright on its edge.
- Check whether the shop offers delivery to the room and wall mounting.
Can a 100 inch TV sit on a TV stand?
Yes, if the stand is wide and strong enough. Look up the distance between the feet and the weight with stand on the spec sheet.
The stand top must be wider than the gap between the feet, and rated for more than the TV weighs. A wall mount is the other option, and it frees the floor space.
How do I clean a very large TV screen?
Big screens show dust and marks easily. Clean them gently:
- Turn the TV off and let the screen cool.
- Wipe with a dry microfiber cloth in long, light strokes.
- For marks, dampen the cloth with water or screen cleaner, never the screen itself.
Avoid paper towels and window cleaner, which can scratch or strip the coating.
Is a 98 inch TV much smaller than a 100 inch one?
Barely. A 100 inch TV has only 1.04 times the screen area of a 98 inch TV, and is 1.7 in (4.4 cm)4.4 cm (1.7 in) wider.
That is a small change, so pick by price, picture quality and the exact body size on each page.
Can a 100 inch TV go in a bedroom?
Only in a large one. A 100 inch TV suits seats from about 10.0 ft3.0 m away, so the bed needs to be at least that far from the wall.
In a smaller bedroom, a 65 inch or 75 inch TV may fit the distance better. Our TV size calculator gives the range for your room.

How we measure
Width = diagonal × 16 ÷ √(16² + 9²) and height = diagonal × 9 ÷ √(16² + 9²). Seats run from diagonal ÷ 0.835 (40 degrees of view) to diagonal ÷ 0.615 (30 degrees).
