Which resolution suits a 13.3 inch laptop?

Higher resolution looks sharper but makes text smaller, so you need display scaling. At 13.3 inches, 1920 × 1200 gives 170 PPI and 2880 × 1800 gives 255 PPI. The table shows the Windows scaling each needs.

ResolutionPixel densityWindows scalingPixels vanish beyond
1920 × 1200 170 PPI 175% 20.2 in 51.3 cm
2560 × 1600 227 PPI 225% 15.1 in 38.5 cm
2880 × 1800 255 PPI 275% 13.5 in 34.2 cm

Sit farther away than the last column and you will not see single pixels. See every resolution in the chart.

At this size, 2880 × 1800 hides single pixels at every laptop distance. 1920 × 1200 hides them from about 20 in51 cm and 2560 × 1600 from about 15 in38 cm. At 275% scaling, 2880 × 1800 draws everything nearly three times as big, so its extra pixels go to sharpness, not space.

None of them runs at 100%, as text would be too small to read at 18 in46 cm.

How we measure

Screen width = diagonal x a / sqrt(a^2 + b^2) and height = diagonal x b / sqrt(a^2 + b^2) for an a:b screen. Viewing angle = 2 x arctan(half the screen width / distance). Pixel visibility uses 1 arcminute, the limit of 20/20 vision.
