What did the real models show?

The table lists three 25 inch monitors from Alienware and ViewSonic. Every one is 21.9 in55.6 cm wide, 0.1 in0.3 cm more than the screen itself.

Without its stand, the ViewSonic XG2536 is the thinnest at 2.3 in5.8 cm deep. At the other end, the Alienware AW2524HF is 3.3 in8.4 cm deep.

Weights run from 7.7 lb3.5 kg for the ViewSonic XG2536 to 8.14 lb3.7 kg for the Alienware AW2525HM and Alienware AW2524HF. A monitor arm rated for 9 lb4.1 kg or more covers the weight of every model here.

With their stands, the makers list heights of 14.7 in37.2 cm to 21.8 in55.4 cm, so measure under any shelf. On their stands, they take 8.1 in20.6 cm to 9.6 in24.4 cm of desk depth.

They use two VESA patterns, from 75 x 75 to 100 x 100 mm. The most common is 100 x 100 mm, on two of them, but check your exact model before you buy an arm.

How much desk do two or three need?

Two 25 inch screens side by side need at least 43.6 in110.7 cm (110.7 cm43.6 in) of desk width for the screens alone. Three need 65.4 in166.0 cm (166.0 cm65.4 in). Add the frame widths from the table above.

Two side by side are a little wider than one 45 inch ultrawide, with a frame down the middle.

How far should you sit from a 25 inch monitor?

Desk screens are usually viewed from 20 to 30 in (50 to 75 cm). The table shows how much of your view a 25 inch screen fills at each distance. It feels very wide at 18 to 20 in46 to 51 cm, wide at 24 to 28 in61 to 71 cm and ideal at 32 in81 cm.

Which resolution suits a 25 inch monitor?

Higher resolution looks sharper but makes text smaller, so you need display scaling. At 25 inches, 1920 × 1080 gives 88 PPI and 3840 × 2160 gives 176 PPI. The table shows the Windows scaling each needs.

At this size, 1920 × 1080 looks clear, 2560 × 1440 looks crisp and 3840 × 2160 looks very sharp. 1920 × 1080 works at 100% scaling, while 2560 × 1440 needs 125% and 3840 × 2160 needs 175%.

ResolutionPixel densityWindows scalingPixels vanish beyond
1920 × 1080 88 PPI 100% 39.0 in 99.1 cm

3840 × 2160 176 PPI 175% 19.5 in 49.6 cm

Sit farther away than the last column and you will not see single pixels. See every resolution in the chart.

How does a 25 inch monitor compare with other sizes?

The next size up, the 27 inch monitor, has 17% more screen area. The next size down, the 24 inch monitor, has 8% less screen area. Area grows with the square of the diagonal, so a few inches feel bigger than they sound.

That makes the size up a clear step, and the size down a small step.

How we measure

Screen width = diagonal x a / sqrt(a^2 + b^2) and height = diagonal x b / sqrt(a^2 + b^2) for an a:b screen. Viewing angle = 2 x arctan(half the screen width / distance). Pixel visibility uses 1 arcminute, the limit of 20/20 vision.

Model sizes come from each maker's published spec sheet, linked in the table. Last checked 2026-10-09.
