How do I tell which HP EliteBook I have?

EliteBook is HP's premium business line, first sold in 2008. In a name such as 840 G5, the second digit marks the size class, 4 for 14 inch, and G marks the generation. A 5 as the last digit, as in 845, marks an AMD model.

The model name is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop, next to the serial number. On most HP laptops, pressing fn and esc together opens System Information. Enter the serial number on HP's support site to find the model's service guide.
